A space in Pamiers dedicated to contemporary art and the history of this remarkable 17th\u1d49 century convent.<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Carmel de Pamiers, a former Carmelite convent founded in 1648, is now a lively, free exhibition space. Located on the Place du Mercadal, it offers the public the chance to discover a variety of exhibitions in a peaceful, historic setting. The building, which has been carefully restored, retains its cloister, chapel and exhibition rooms, blending religious heritage with modern artistic proposals. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Open year-round from Tuesday to Friday afternoons, and on Saturday mornings and afternoons, the Carmel hosts exhibitions, shows and cultural events open to all. Admission is free, inviting spontaneous discovery. In addition, new spaces, such as the refurbished gardens and the bookshop-shop, enhance the visitor’s experience by offering places to stroll and relax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONVERTED INTO A SPACE FOR EXPRESSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The former Carmelite convent is reborn as a platform for creation and contemporary art in Pamiers.<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Following the closure of the religious community in 2008, the town of Pamiers has brought this heritage site back to life by rehabilitating its buildings: kitchens, pantries and large restored rooms are now home to artists in residence, contemporary exhibitions and visual creations. The cloister, chapel, bishop’s tower and other signs of spiritual architecture provide a unique backdrop for the works on display, blending religious heritage, historical structure and artistic expression. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
