Museum in Lavelanet dedicated to textiles, horn, industrial know-how and crafts from the Ariège region.

The museum invites you to discover every stage in the manufacture of a fabric: hand spinning, mechanical spinning, natural dyeing, warping, ancestral or mechanical weaving, right through to the transformation of a reed into horn. Housed in the former Dumons factory, it preserves the atmosphere and machines of the period, from hand tools to historic looms, in a richly immersive tour.

Textile Museum

A preserved industrial heritage, rare machines, technical collections and a textile garden to explore.

With nearly 1,200 exhibits – machines, archival objects and industrial tools – the museum traces the evolution of textiles from the XVIIᵉ century to the present day. The textile garden completes the experience: plants such as woad, hemp and indigo contribute to an understanding of fibers and natural dyes. A warping & antique looms area also allows visitors to admire hand looms while discovering the myths and legends of weavers’ lives.

Lively guided tours, hands-on workshops and adapted tours for children, schoolchildren or individual visitors.

The museum offers demonstrations of handspinning, natural dyeing, weaving and the use of Jacquard looms, with enthusiastic volunteers and experts. Part of the tour is self-guided, with videos, explanatory panels and QR codes for younger visitors; other parts are commented on for more in-depth knowledge. Accessible to people with reduced mobility, it also welcomes school groups, foreign visitors and curious amateurs.
