Forest
and whitewater
Three waterfalls hidden in the heart of a dense forest, for a refreshing nature getaway.
The Chemin des 3 cascades takes you on a beautiful 7.3 km loop starting from the village of Prayols, in the heart of a forest of beech and chestnut trees. You follow a stream, cross stone bridges and gently climb a path that winds between light and shade. The scenery changes as you go: undergrowth, the sound of water, moss-covered rocks… then, suddenly, the lapping intensifies – you reach the cascade de la Piche, then two other small cascades, each with its own unique charm. The atmosphere is peaceful, inviting you to marvel and reconnect with nature.
Hiking
For all
An accessible loop, but with a few climbs to spice up the adventure.
The circuit has a positive gradient of ~490 m – which means some steep ascents and descents. The trail is signposted (yellow loop), but some sections can be slippery or steep, especially after rain: good hiking boots are recommended. Allow around 3 hrs for the whole trail, taking time to appreciate the waterfalls, forest scenery and occasional panoramas. Remember to take water with you, and avoid strollers – the terrain is not suitable. For more information on the hike : https://www.foix-tourisme.com/itineraires/le-chemin-des-3-cascades/ .
How to get there
At the starting point
By car, bike or shuttle – a simple start to a beautiful day in nature.
From the Camping du Lac in Foix, take the road towards Prayols via the D8 – it’s about 6 km away, or about ten minutes by car. You can park your car in the parking lot in front of the Prayols town hall, where the trail starts. If you prefer a gentler approach, you can combine cycling or local transport to the village, then start the loop on foot. It’s a great way to get off to a gentle start, in line with your values of soft mobility.
