A captivating walk, between quiet locks and a nature trail, ideal for getting away from it all in any season.
A superb walk along the Canal du Midi, pleasant in all seasons thanks to its changing colors throughout the year. There are plenty of opportunities to take a break along the way and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Vic and Castanet locks.
The return journey offers a totally different atmosphere: wilder, it follows a small path that weaves its way through the vegetation in places.

Before you leave
Everything you need to know before your ride: useful tips, altitude difference, duration and tips for enjoying the route.
This loop circuit is 8.5 km long with a very slight difference in altitude of around 10 m – an easy route accessible to all. The altitude remains stable at around 140-150 m. Allow around 2h30 for the whole walk. The outward journey follows a fairly flat cycle path or dirt track; the return, via a narrow path close to the canal, is wilder and can be muddy in wet weather – bring suitable footwear. How to get there
to the starting point
The starting point is 22 km from the campsite!
To reach the starting point along the Canal du Midi from Camping Le Rupé, you can walk along a pleasant footpath. Allow 3 to 3.5 km, depending on the route you choose, for a 40 to 50-minute walk. The route passes through quiet districts of Toulouse and gradually joins the canal-side path. The walk offers a glimpse of the urban ambience before returning to the peaceful setting of the canal and its locks. Bring comfortable shoes and water for the journey.
