Calmont-Aubouissous
Ridges, valleys and views over the Ariège plain.
This loop hike starts from Calmont, over the hills and ridges overlooking the Hers valley, then descends to the river banks and returns to the starting point. The route offers beautiful panoramic views over the plain and, on a clear day, over the Pyrenean foothills – a good balance between nature, relief and a clear horizon.

A few steep climbs, but manageable.
The hike is ~8.9 km long and has an ascent of ~+352 m / -301 m. Two climbs, although short, are a little steep. The trail is described as poorly marked – it’s best to follow the GPS track. In wet weather, the descent can be slippery in certain sections. Good footwear and care are essential. How to get there
to the starting point
Less than 10 minutes’ drive from the campsite to Calmont, the starting point!
From Mazères (Camping La Bastide), take the road to Calmont (Haute-Garonne). The loop starts from the parking lot near the Calmont cemetery. It’s a short drive – ideal for a morning start – and the parking lot provides a good starting point for the hike.
