Overlooking the Bédeilhac valley, the Calamès fortress is an ancient medieval defensive site, now in ruins. Accessible only on foot, it offers a beautiful hike with, on arrival, an unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The trail starts in the village of Bédeilhac and climbs steadily through the forest. After a steady climb, the ruins appear at the top of a limestone promontory. The panorama is spectacular, with views over the Pyrenees and the Ariège valley.
