A 15.6 km loop in the heart of the Ariège hills.

Les Côteaux au nord de Carla-Bayle” is a 15.57 km hike, with a positive altitude difference of +308 m and an average duration of 5h20. It traverses the hills and valleys around Carla-Bayle, mixing small roads, paths and passages between woods and fields, for a gentle immersion in the countryside. The route forms a loop – starting and finishing at the same point – making it a great half-day or full-day outing.

A reasonably steep hike in the Ariege Pyrenees!

The hike is classified as “medium”: the altitude difference remains moderate (+308 m), making it accessible to experienced walkers. However, a significant part of the route is on tarmac roads or paths, which may detract from the “nature trail” aspect. Bring good shoes and water, especially in hot weather, and ideally do it in dry weather: some sections may be less pleasant after rain. You can visit the village of Carla-Bayle on the way back!
