Parc de la Préhistoire Tarascon-sur-Ariège: a unique immersion in prehistoric life!
The Parc de la Préhistoire, located in Tarascon-sur-Ariège, is a unique 13-hectare site dedicated to the life of early man.
In addition to its vast natural park – forests, waterfalls, reconstructed caves and ponds – the park offers a modern museum space, the 2,500 m² “Grand Atelier”, which recreates the cave art and environment of the Cro-Magnons.
For all ages, the park combines nature, history and sensations from another time.

The Parc de la Préhistoire offers a variety of interactive workshops to introduce visitors to the techniques of our ancestors. You can learn how to hunt, carve flint, light a fire like 16,000 years ago, dig like an archaeologist or paint on the walls of a life-size cave. These fun and educational activities offer an in-depth understanding of prehistoric lifestyles.

From the canannes
How to get to the Parc de la Préhistoire from Les Oustalous: car, bike and transport!
From Les Oustalous, the Parc de la Préhistoire in Tarascon-sur-Ariège can be reached by car in around 20-30 minutes via the RN20. Access is easy, with ample free on-site parking.
If you’re more sporty, you can also set off by bike – the route takes in some beautiful Pyrenean scenery before you reach the park.
