A plateau suspended at 1,200 m, between sky and mountains – a breath of fresh air just minutes from Foix.
The Prat d’Albis is a vast, high-altitude plateau perched at around 1,200 m, just a stone’s throw from Foix. From its lawns and ridges, you can overlook the Ariège valley, the surrounding plain and the foothills of the Pyrenees – a breathtakingly grandiose horizon. A place to relax and marvel, where you can stroll, picnic or simply contemplate the seasonally changing landscape. The summer meadows, the grasslands, the pure mountain air and the feeling of being “above the world” make this a beautiful natural setting in which to recharge your batteries.
Hiking
For all
Accessible to all, but to be adapted according to weather and season.
The Prat d’Albis site is relatively easy to reach – no major technical difficulties, but access via the mountain road (D421) can be winding, and sometimes tricky in winter. Once on the plateau, walks along the ridges and meadows are suitable for everyone: perfect for a gentle stroll, a picnic or a quiet moment with the family. On the other hand, beware of herds in summer pasture: cows, horses or sheep can graze – dogs on a leash and respect for animals are essential. In winter, in the event of snow or icy conditions, the road may be closed: it’s best to check with local information before setting off.
